Inspiring

We have got our pictures back from Shaju, and all we can say is WOW, WOW,WOW ! These are the most amazing pictures I have ever seen. Shaju has a gift for capturing natural expressions in every shot he takes. We will treasure these pictures always, and we plan to use Shaju for all of our future family photo shoots. Impressed by Shaju's creativity we have fallen in love with his work and started loving photography. After meeting Shaju and his piece of work my husband has started taking photography classes and made photography as a hobby.

More than money's worth

After a lot of searching online, my wife and I decided on Shaju as our wedding photographer. His photos are of high quality and did justice to an event as memorable and important as our wedding. He was also very prompt and proactive in post-processing the photos and getting us copies of the photos and video. Another plus is very reasonable pricing. We had come across many wedding photographers who charge lot more for comparable photography. He also gave us a couple of thousand bucks off when we paid the full amount in advance. It may be possible to find even better wedding photographers, but they would likely charge a lot more. In other words, Shaju offers the "best click for your buck". Overall, it was a pleasure working with him. We highly recommend Shaju Joseph for any kind of event photography.

Photography is an Art

Whether photography is an art or just a technician’s skill has been debated for long. Those that understand art, accept photography as an art. But the majority of people continue to presume that it is just a technician’s skill.

Well, if it be so, then how come the pictures taken from the same camera by a photo-artist and a non-artist are so very different ?

I remember that in the 1960s when I was studying in a school, Dhiraj Chawda, the eminent photographer of The Illustrated Weekly of India had visited our school. Addressing the students, he narrated an anecdote of how at a party in Bombay he was introduced to a leading Bollywood actress. The actress was excited and said she had wanted to meet him for quite some time. She said she was dying to learn photography and wanted Chawda to recommend a good camera so she could get started. Chawda told her politely that to get started with photography you do not need a camera so much as an eye for what constitutes a good picture.

This precisely is what sets the pictures of Shaju Joseph apart and makes him a photo-artist. Some years ago, for my daughters’ weddings I engaged what I was told were the best studios in Mysore to take pictures. But the results always disappointed me. When I first saw the pictures taken by Shaju for my daughter’s playgroup, I was impressed at once. Each picture told a story. A complete, integrated story. Photography, like fiction, is a composition. But, unlike fiction, there is nothing that is contrived in photography. It is just a presentation of a telling moment. Every moment is an experience, anubhava. Memorable moments have a rasa about them. The pictures of such moments captured by a photo-artist cause a rasanubhava. A good picture, like a good poem, does not make a statement; it only suggests an experience. This is what our ancients described as dhvani, ‘suggesting’. This is what the photography of Shaju is all about: creating the dhvani of a moment seen by his creative eye, captured sharply by his camera, and presented for a sensitive person to share. When you see his pictures of an event, you live the moment.

We took over 6 months of search to finalise a candid photographer for our wedding. Although it seemed an easy task for finding someone reasonable and excellent at what he is doing, it was tougher than finding a wedding venue. Having considered 4 different photographers for our big day, somehow nothing worked the way we wanted it to be. We heard about Shaju through another family friend who used his services and was very happy with the outcome. Lot of his sample works being online, we could also avoid a face-to-face meeting to finalise.  Shaju gave us a completely personalized package with photo book, outdoor couple portfolio & a 10 days delivery of everything as we had to rush back to Australia with limited holidays at hand. To cut the story short, we were overjoyed at the way our emotions were captured on the big day. Our decision could not have been better and we are very happy to recommend him for anything in the creative photography field. Wish him all the very best and hope to work with him for upcoming family events in the future.

A picture speaks a 1000 words !! But in my opinion, what we got from Shaju within a week from our wedding day was completely 'fresh' and 'living' emotions of a lifetime. It was beyond 1000 words and definitely none would want to miss out such an experience on occasions that happen just once in life. I was frankly not aware of the seriousness of candid coverage of our wedding. It was purely out of curiosity & a word of recommendation from another family member. But it proved worth the time & money. I thank Shaju for making us feel relaxed & comfortable on our big day, giving his tips & humorous directions to make ourselves to be natural. The best was our outdoor portfolio shoot. I never had any of my images ever taken as natural or as best as I could get it on our outdoor shoot day.  We printed a 23x36 size from one of that collection and its put on our bedroom wall. The experience of going back to the wedding day is as instant as looking at that frame. I feel thats were 1000 words could easily fail !!

There are thousands of wedding photographers in India. Some are exclusively wedding photographers, many are into different genres of fine art photography, capturing various subjects as their hobby line as well as career line. I always knew Shaju as a die-hard learner from 2009. I also knew his background from the Forex field for 10 years ! But I never expected him to completely dive into the fine art photography leaving his very lucrative money making field of Forex. Call it destiny or choice by motivation ! Although I had 2 established photographers in my close circle, I chose Shaju as my wedding photographer purely with my ever-growing interest in his works over the years and seeing the hard work he puts into each of his work to get the best out of every click. It was a pure joy to see the final outcome in print, no words could express my gratitude. I am an artist by profession, and to appreciate someone else's work is not an easy task. An artist sees 'what is missing' first when he judges someone else's work, its natural. I must say, I am 100% happy with what I got from Shaju's lenses. I always tease him by saying "its not about your talent, its about the equipments you use" :) but its obvious, without talent even the best equipments in the world will be just a piece of gadget. Wishing him all the very best in all his future projects and looking forward to working with him again.
